Hello everybody, welcome to Monday. The S&P 500 was up .09% today. And although that was a modest increase for the day, it was an all-time record closing high, which is still kind of exciting altogether. The market continues to do. We’ve had some good news since the last time I spoke with you. Friday night, they passed the infrastructure bill. This is a fairly big deal. We’ve seen a lot of the infrastructure stocks moving really well. Steel companies and all kinds of things along those lines are moving nicely right now as we speak.
There’s just another catalyst basically for the market: that infrastructure bill is spread out over eight years, so I don’t know how much like massive impact it’s going to have, right away in terms of economic impact. But that might be a good thing in the sense that, you know, we are in an inflationary environment, because we already have quite a few constraints with supply issues and shortage of labor. And so you know, spreading that money out over a longer period of time might actually help that quite nicely. And so this could be a perfect scenario as far as that goes.
We also had travel restrictions reduced here in the US, for international travelers to come in. Apparently, they’re already seeing immediate new bookings pick up. And so companies that do bookings, like Expedia and what have you, Airbnb, airlines, hotels, restaurants, are all moving today, really. So we’re starting to see a lot of infrastructure, stocks move, and transportation stocks move, and some of these travel related stocks are starting to move today, too.
So, there’s lots of good things that are happening as we slowly but surely start to reopen. And hopefully, we can, you know, figure out how to deal with these supply constraints and keep inflation under control as far as that goes. But very, very positive market still going up. Still has a lot of momentum. Lots of green and some really strong Movers today, even though the S&P 500 was up a lot. The overall markets that I’m watching looked very healthy today. So look forward to seeing what’s going to happen tomorrow. Thank you very much.
