Hello, everybody, welcome to Monday, the S&P 500 was down point three 9%. Today, really the big catalyst seem to be news coming out of China industrial production and China was down 2.9% For this April versus last April, and retail sales were down 11.1%. And obviously, both of these are attributed to the lock downs that are happening there. And so the market responded negatively to those reports, although it did respond positively, later on in the afternoon to reports coming out of the most restricted areas, saying that the case counts are coming down nicely. So we’ll see how this plays out. It’s going to be one of the focuses that the world has right now.
One of the other things that we saw today was the price of oil that came up again, if China does, you know, be able to reopen some, they’re a huge user of oil, so that could drive oil price. And then obviously, you’ve got the European Union moving off of Russian oil over the next six months, which will drive most likely drive the price of oil up. So those are things that you know, we’re kind of watching for right now to see how that plays out. Interesting time for the market, just in the sense of what’s going on today. You know, we didn’t fall much, just a little bit, we had a massive rally on Friday, which was really good. And we hit a really nice low point that we bounced off of on Thursday morning. And so, you know, we’re looking for some support from that low point.
And just today’s sideways motion, I think is fine. The chairman of the Fed Reserve is going to be speaking this week. So the markets probably waiting around to see what’s going to be talked about there also. So nonetheless, interesting day all together. Not a bad day, in my opinion, especially after the big update that we had on Friday. And we’ll just kind of watch this day by day right now. It’s kind of important to see if we can get some more strength to at least hold up if not continue back up. Or do we get down to a new low so this is what we’ll be watching for now. So talk to you tomorrow. Thank you
